Responsibilities:
Attend group meetings to provide information relating to the JPT, Education, and Scholarship Program.
Assist with scheduled events to include planning and implementation (i.
e.
College Fair, Job Fair, Summer Youth Program, Talking Circle, JPT Outreach, etc.
) Implement retention strategies to continue relationships with outside entities participating in annually scheduled events.
Assist with intake of prospective scholarship, JPT applicants, and youth groups as necessary.
Participate in group activities as they are scheduled.
Assist Higher Education Director and program participants on the completion of forms relating to program objectives, as needed.
Educate staff and program participants about tribal education program policies and procedures.
Visit individuals to provide support or information as directed.
Assist program participants in managing details of daily life and strategies for successful outcomes as needed.
Assist with data collection as needed.
Prepare correspondence for program participants and partnerships as needed.
Oversight of the Library and its' contents; assist visitors as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and
Experience:
Associates Degree Two years' experience in an office environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of culturally diverse populations and their needs.
Knowledge of individual differences in personality and interests.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
Knowledge of higher education terminology.
Skill in actively looking for ways to assist public library and ITO education programs.
Skill adjusting actions in relation to another's actions.
Must be able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in writing and verbally, with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to communicate sensitive or controversial information directly and respectfully.
Ability to motivate others in a group setting or on an individual basis.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.
Ability to keep confidentiality of program and program participant information.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point) and internet resources.
Conditions of Employment:
The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma operates a drug-free workplace.
Must submit to and pass applicable drug test.
Must pass background investigations for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver license.
